Selcuk University

Selcuk University (SU) is one of the biggest universities located in the central of Anatolia, Turkey, currently has 1100 full-time faculty members, 1500 research staff. Its main objective has always been focused on education and training of highly component professionals in various fields and has been in the top list of the frame of entrepreneurship and innovation universities. It is aimed to be a well known university globally within the 500 top universities according to Strategic Roadmap (2014-2018) SU. For this, it has been decided to integrate the European Research area (ERA) with the Higher Education area in Europe. SU has Advanced Technology Research and Application Centre (ILTEK) in order to serve for scientific and technological research at SU, to conduct interdisciplinary projects, to maintain the coordination of the R&D activities, directed to technology production primarily on the strategic technology fields. In addition, it was aimed to conduct multidisciplinary research and joint projects about the subjects on which industry of the region needs .

Role As the coordinator of EngSurf-Twin, WP1 and WP5 leader, SU regards EngSurf-Twin to be of major strategic importance. In addition to building specific know-how from the project activities, SU will also exploit findings beyond its frontiers, particularly in the Konya Region. Improvement in R&D innovation capacities at SU will directly contribute to the enrichment of the research portfolio will have a clear impact on the research performance of SU and its visibility in the international scientific community and increase number and quality of SU research publication as well as international collaborative projects). In the future, SU will expand and accept more contracts that will lead to new collaboration opportunities and better integration in Horizon Europe networks and R&D projects.

Trinity College of Dublin, Advanced Materials and BioEngineering Research

Trinity College Dublin is recognised internationally as Ireland’s premier university and is ranked in 98st position in the top 100 world universities [QS World University Rankings 2016]. In the Times Higher Education World University Rankings for 2015, Trinity was ranked 160th in the top 200 world universities and 48th in Europe. AMBER is a Science Foundation Ireland funded Centre providing a partnership between leading researchers in materials science and industry. It is jointly hosted in Trinity College Dublin (TCD) by CRANN and the Trinity Centre for Bioengineering (TCBE), in collaboration with University College Cork (UCC) and the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI). AMBER brings together Ireland’s leading material science researchers working across the disciplines of Bioengineering, Chemistry, Immunology, Medicine, Pharmacy, and Physics. Industry partners include Merck, Intel, Nokia Bell Labs and DePuy. The industry partners are diverse, both in terms of sectors and scale, covering the four primary sectors of ICT, Medical Devices, Pharmaceuticals and Industrial Technologies. A primary objective of the AMBER centre is to create new knowledge and intellectual property and to successfully transfer that knowledge to industry through licensing agreements, staff exchange and formal transfer of know-how. We work in conjunction with the technology transfer offices of TCD, UCC and RCSI to achieve this. Nanotechnology is a key enabling technology which underpins the ICT, medical device, and pharmaceutical sectors and hence is critical to Ireland. At present it is estimated that 10% – about €15B – of Irelands annual exports are associated with nanotechnology and that there are in excess of 150,000 employees working in companies in which nanotechnology plays an important enabling role.

Role TCD leads, WP2 and WP4,and twinning partner for transfer of knowledge on 2D layered materials, heterostructures & Network interfaces, metal oxide films, 2D exfoliation teschniques, interfacial engineering, device fabrication, molecular device, BCP self-assembly, and patterning
